Journey Across South Korea.

(West Coast to East Coast)

The figure above shows the path taken across South Korea. The path was chosen to run from the Yellow Sea to the Sea of Japan. The location of the path was also chosen to run through the Worakson Mountain. 

The chart shows the elevation change in the path taken. The distance changes roughly every 10 miles, and the total miles across is estimated at 170 miles. 

A entersting observation is about 15 miles inland from the east of Korea the land elevation changes as much as three thousand feet.

Choropleth Map

The definition of a Choropleth Map:

Thematic map in which areas are shaded or patterned in proportion to the measurement of the statistical variable being displayed on the map, such as population density or per-capita income.

In the map above shows Breast cancer rates for females in america. 

Isarithmic Map

The definition of Isarithmic Map:

Are maps that represent data sets that have a "continuos distribution" and "smooth change in value".

In the map above shows the strength of a areas belief in either republican, independent, or democrat. 

Dot Density Map

The definition of Dot Density Map:

A maptype that uses a dot symbol to show the presence of a feature or phenomenon. 

In the Map above Each Dot represents 15,000 people in the year 1999.

Proportional Symbol Map

1. The Definition of Proportional Symbol Map:
   A type of thematic mapping, the cartographer selects a symbol and alters its size, the area to be exact, based on data values. 
   In the map above the multiple states in black as the symbol for its own state showing its population. 
   
   

Mineral Identification

Mineral 1: Trinitite 

Trinitite also know as Atomsite or Alamogordo can be found on the surface of a desert floor after a plutonium explosion. This mineral is made up of arkosic sand composed of quartz grains and feldspar.  This is a frailly newer material formed July 16, 1945 at the trinity bomb site in Alamogordo, New Mexico. During a Nuclear Explosion the heat produced, turns a thin layer of the dessert into glass. The color of the mineral can vary but it typically is a light green.  The mineral is radioactive but harmless to handle.

Mineral 2: Azurite 

Azurite also known as Chessylite is produced from the weathering of copper ore deposits.  The mineral is a soft, deep blue copper mineral. The mineral is a close cousin to Malachite. The mineral is categorized as a Hydrated Copper Carbonate.

Deep-Sea Hydrothermal Vents

Under water hot springs known as Deep-Sea Hydrothermal vents expel water from beneath the earths crust. Deep under the sea, shifting tectonic plates pull water under neath the earths surface. This water incounters hot magma and turns to a boil. The super heated water bursts through the earths floor about 360 degrees Fahrenheit. The vents located on a chain of volcanos, spew toxic chemicals into the ocean in which deep-sea creatures live off of through a process known as chemosynthesis. Some of these creatures are white crabs, tube worms, amphipods, and many more.
