Choropleth Map
The definition of a Choropleth Map:

Thematic map in which areas are shaded or patterned in proportion to the measurement of the statistical variable being displayed on the map, such as population density or per-capita income.

In the map above shows Breast cancer rates for females in america. 

Isarithmic Map


The definition of Isarithmic Map:

Are maps that represent data sets that have a "continuos distribution" and "smooth change in value".

In the map above shows the strength of a areas belief in either republican, independent, or democrat. 

Dot Density Map

The definition of Dot Density Map:

maptype that uses a dot symbol to show the presence of a feature or phenomenon. 

In the Map above Each Dot represents 15,000 people in the year 1999.


Proportional Symbol Map
  1. The Definition of Proportional Symbol Map:
    A type of thematic mapping, the cartographer selects a symbol and alters its size, the area to be exact, based on data values. 
    In the map above the multiple states in black as the symbol for its own state showing its population.
